In my middle school we had very strict rules about our appearance. Students couldn't dye hair, have any make-up or piercings, wear sleeveless top and shorts. There was also a designated permissible length of nails and skirts. I was always wondering about the reason of all of these prohibitions. Why school was so interested in the way that pupils dressed themselves? Firstly clothes, hair and all of the things connected with the look are for teenagers the method for self-expression. By dressing in some kind of clothes we shape our individuality. They are also a good way to show our current mood. In the other hand I understand that teachers wanted us not to dress defiantly, but if the students had parents permission to look as they like, why couldn't they do that?

  1. I would agree with you, even though in gives me pain (literally) when I see the piercings in some places or girls covering their fresh young skins in tons of make-up. Why do you do it to yourselves?

  2. I really don't understand this kind of rules. In my opinion as long as students know some limits, they should have a permission to wear what they want to.
